QUALIFICATIONS
Choosing who you vote for is a lot about trust. You are entrusting your chosen candidate(s) will make the right, responsible and proactive choices for the municipality in which you live. Here is what makes me qualified and experienced to make those big choices on your behalf:
-
I have over 22 years business experience as an owner/operator of a successful and growing business. That doesn’t happen without knowing how to make smart, planned and forward thinking financial decisions. Councillors are entrusted with oversight of a multi-million dollar operating budget, a level of which I have experience.
-
I have a formal education that includes both Political Science and Business Administration backgrounds.
-
As a business operator, I deal with and strategize around Tariffs, inflation, Canadian Dollar fluctuations and rising costs of goods and equipment daily - the same pressures that effect the Municipalities operations and costs.
-
I offer personal experience. I relocated my business to Marmora and Lake and managed to not only survive, but also thrive. I want to help others do the same and show them the opportunities and resources available to them. I know the challenges that exist here, I’ve been through them. I want to help break those challenges down through policy, to make it easier for others to start or move a business here, and for current businesses grow.
-
I offer diversity and bring a younger, family oriented perspective.
-
Having a parent in the community I am attentive to the needs of seniors and what's needed to make Mamora and Lake a more livable place as residents age.
-
I understand the role of council is not to dictate, but to provide sound analysis and smart, responsible policy recommendations. I'm collaborative by nature.
-
I bring real world experience and have the analytical, planning and teamwork skills needed to build and encourage a healthy, inclusive and thriving community.
-
I'm a strategist and make choices not just for "the now", but for the future. This is an essential part of long term growth and sustainability. This means making tough calls.
-
I respect and acknowledge the importance of the precious ecosystems that exist in our Municipality.
-
I have demonstrated a willingness and commitment to being involved. I presently sit as chair of the Economic Development Advisory Committee of Marmora and Lake, a board Member of the Eastern Ontario Trails Alliance, a member of the Marmora Public School Parent Council, a 25-26 Marmora Pickleball Club executive volunteer, and a member on the Hastings County Business Resource Team.
-
I co-ordinate the annual roadside trash bash, assist in organization of the annual free tree giveaway and was a volunteer with the Marmora outdoor rink. I have participated annually with an activity booth in the Marmora Events Group Family day at the Arena, in the Marmora Lions Club Santa Claus Parade and the Crowe Lake Waterway's boat Parade. My commitment to contributing to this community doesn't end at the council desk.
-
I have spent the past 4 years learning and studying municipal documents, studies, financial information, municipal and provincial acts. I have taken every opportunity for free training and courses available to build knowledge and expertise in effort to perform better in my role as Councillor.
-
I'm active on social media and often produce videos and promotional posts of community events. You won't find me jumping in front of the camera for a photo op' - I'm there to highlight and promote the incredible work and events our community groups, organizations and municipal staff do to better our community.
